The Edmonton Oilers are gearing up for a showdown against the Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, but forward Viktor Arvidsson remains out with a mysterious injury.

Tonight's game against the Columbus Blue Jackets marks the 10th straight game Viktor Arvidsson has been sidelined with an injury, and the fan base is starting to grow weary.

Following this morning's skate, head coach Kris Knoblauch made himself available for his usual interview, providing fans a grim update on the Swedish forward.

Back on November 14th, Viktor Arvidsson missed practice due to a maintenance day.

The following day, Kris Knoblauch listed him as 50/50 for the game against the Nashville Predators, and he hasn't been available for a game since.

Now, fans are starting to question whether or not signing Viktor Arvidsson was the right call by Jeff Jackson.

According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, There's been concerns that Viktor Arvidsson is an injury-prone player throughout his career. In 11 seasons in the NHL, he's only played more than 66 games 3 times.

On top of that, there may be some frustration from the Oilers and their fans of Arvidsson's underwhelming production in the lineup. In 16 games this season, he's only scored 2 goals and 5 points - on pace for a career low of 10 goals.

It was recently announced yesterday that Viktor Arvidsson has been named to the Swedish National team ahead of the 4 Nations Face-Off tournament, perplexing fans due to the nature of his mysterious injury.

Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily reported yesterday that Team Sweden must've had some inside information on Arvidsson's mysterious injury to be comfortable selecting him.

Regardless, fan frustration continues to boil over as Viktor Arvidsson will remain out for the foreseeable future.

In 16 regular season games, Viktor Arvidsson has notched 2 goals and 3 assists.
