Hamblin's performance over the weekend against the
Chicago Wolves earned him this recognition.
In just two games, he scored five points with three goals and two assists while posting a +3 rating and shooting 13 shots on goal.
Through 21 games this season, Hamblin has scored nine goals and 11 assists for 20 points which is placing him third on the team in scoring with a +9 rating.
Hamblin's story resonates with many, both on and off the ice since he is an undrafted player and Hamblin began his professional career with the Oilers organization in 2020 when he signed with the Bakersfield Condors.
He gained a lot of attention after scoring his first NHL goal with the Oilers on November 18, 2023.
A lifelong Edmonton Oilers fan, Hamblin's goal celebration touched hearts across the hockey world.
After scoring, he pointed to the sky and dedicated the goal to his late mother who passed away from cancer in September 2017 and the moment went viral.
While Hamblin's NHL career has been brief with only 41 games played with two goals and one assist, his determination to return to the Oilers remains strong.
The Oilers' depth at forward and competition within the Condors organization make it a challenge but Hamblin continues to have strong performance in the AHL.
Recently, the Oilers re-signed Hamblin with a two-way contract of two years with an AAV of $775,000 at the NHL level which is signalling that the organization values his potential.
With the NHL currently in a two-week break, Hamblin and the Condors will look to extend their six-game point streak as they face the Tucson Roadrunners on Tuesday and the San Jose Barracuda on Saturday at 7:00 PM local time.
