In his place comes Derek Ryan, but many fans are starting to question head coach Kris Knoblauch to leave Corey Perry off the roster.
It's no secret the the Edmonton Oilers will be pushed into an inevitable waiver situation soon, especially with the imminent return of forward Evander Kane.
Both Ryan and Perry have proven to be a solid veteran presence on the team, but unfortunately one of them is likely to be the next player placed on waivers.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, At 39 years old though, Corey «The Worm» Perry is still bringing some decent hockey on the Oilers fourth line. In 38 games this year, Perry had 6 goals and 12 points with only fourth line minutes.
Coach Knoblauch explained the decision is just resting Perry while they have the extra body, and not at all a reflection of his play.
