Edmonton Oilers shake up the defence at practice
The Edmonton Oilers are coming off an epic 3-2 overtime victory against the the Boston Bruins last night, but assistant coach Paul Coffey has made some interesting adjustments to the Oilers roster during morning skate.
Darnell Nurse has been one of the team's most reliable defenders this season, finally living up to his monstrous 9.25 million dollar contract with his sound performance on the blue-line.
During practice today, Darnell Nurse received a massive promotion by being assigned to the top pairing alongside Evan Bouchard.
Fans may have noticed this adjustment during last night's game against the Bruins, and it appears that Paul Coffey was impressed with what he saw.
According to Liam McCormick of Oilers Daily, This move also comes at a time when the Bouchard and Ekholm pairing, while it does feature the team's best defenceman, has been struggling a bit lately, and facing criticism for their play.

Earlier this week, we shared an article regarding coach Paul Coffey having off-ice pep talks with Darnell Nurse, telling him he's earned his contract.
Coffey also promised Nurse a leadership role if his play improved, now it appears that Coffey is making good on that promise.
