Evan Bouchard speaks out on his disappointing performance
After the Edmonton Oilers disappointing 6-5 loss to the Florida Panthers, Edmonton Oilers defenceman seems to be in the hot-seat.
From the get-go, it was a tough night for the Oilers star defender.
Just minutes into the game, Evan Bouchard toe-picked himself on the blue line, resulting in a shorthanded goal to open up the scoring -- not ideal.
Mark Spector questions Bouchard's performance
BOUCHARD: «You try that move 100 times, and it will happen once or twice,»
SPECTOR: "What do you think you need to work on in terms of your game?"
BOUCHARD: «A lot of everything. Not acceptable tonight.»
SPECTOR: Has their defensive game got away from the Edmonton Oilers a bit?
BOUCHARD: «I wouldn't say it got away from everyone,» said Bouchard, fully hoisted now on his own petard. «Myself, maybe yes. So there's definitely work to be done there.»
According to Mark Spector, Evan Bouchard looked completely dejected and disappointed during his post game interview.
It wasn't just one of his worst performances with the Oilers -- Bouchard also mistakenly caused Zach Hyman's broken nose with a deflected puck. Although it wasn't his fault, i'm sure he felt bad about it.
Kris Knoblauch comments on Bouchard's game
«I've definitely seen Evan play a lot better than that,» his head coach, Kris Knoblauch, said. «We had some other guys who didn't play their best either. I'm not putting this on Evan.
«He's obviously one of our best players, and you count on those players. When you're winning games, they're usually your best players, but they can't be your best players every night. It was a tough night for Evan, but he doesn't have those very often.»
Evan Bouchard will look for a major bounce back performance when the Oilers take on a formidable Boston Bruins team.
