When the Edmonton Oilers made it all the way to game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, it became clear the the team wouldn't be able to keep that same roster intact.
Fast forward to the NHL offseason, the Edmonton Oilers linked up with the San Jose Sharks, trading Cody Ceci for Ty Emberson -- a trade that turned out extremely favourable for the Oilers so far.
While the Edmonton Oilers gained a promising defender in Ty Emberson, the departure of Cody Ceci left both fans and the dressing room feeling the impact.
On December 21st, the San Sharks rolled into Northern Alberta for Ceci's first visit back to Rogers Place, and the reunion did not disappoint.
Before the game, the San Jose Sharks took to the ice for their usual pre-game warm ups, and a young Oilers fan held up a sign that said "Cody Ceci, we miss you - a puck please!" and the Ex-Oilers defender showed his true colours.
Without hesitation, Ceci skated up to the young fan and delivered a Christmas present she'll undoubtedly hold onto forever.
After being traded to the San Jose Sharks, Ceci opened up about leaving the team, admitting his disappointment.
Ceci had 25 points (five goals, 20 assists) in 79 games last season. The 30-year-old defenseman also had five points (two goals, three assists) in 24 Stanley Cup Playoff games, helping the Oilers advance to the Final.
