Matthew Savoie notches his first ever NHL point
Breaking news in Oil Country as top prospect Matthew Savoie has notched his 1st ever NHL point against the Philadelphia Flyers.
After some impressive forechecking, Savoie showcased his strength along the boards, out-muscling
Rasmus Ristolainen to poke the puck free, setting up
Leon Draisaitl for his 41st goal of the year.

Edmonton Oilers top prospect Matthew Savoie was called from the team's farm affiliate in Bakersfield during the 4 Nations Face-Off Tournament break.
After an impressive showing during practice, head coach Kris Knoblauch made the decision to place Matthew Savoie alongside superstar Leon Draisaitl on the Oilers second line -- the results have been outstanding so far.
During the intermission, Matthew Savoie got together with Gene Principe to discuss how it felt notching his first point as an Oiler.
"Its been special for me the guys have made me feel welcomed and comfortable. I'm just trying to get the most out of this experience. I'm definitely having fun out there.

Ryan McLeod and
Tyler Tullio in exchange for Buffalo Sabres top prospect Matthew Savoie.
Matthew Savoie's transition to the AHL level has been impressive to watch, as the St. Albert product currently ranked 3rd overall in scoring.
Additionally, Matthew Savoie also took home the fastest skater award in this year's AHL all-star skills competition.
Now, it seems that Matthew Savoie is quickly cementing his role on the Oilers top-six, and I have a feeling we'll be seeing lots of Matthew Savoie and Leon Draisaitl for years to come.
