Montreal Canadiens forward Emil Heineman hit by car, Habs make formal announcement
Breaking news in the NHL as Montreal Canadiens forward Emil Heineman was hit by a car yesterday in Utah as a pedestrian.
This is announcement by the Montreal Canadiens is deeply concerning, and quite frankly, unprecedented.
According to
TSN, The 23-year-old winger is in his rookie NHL season and has 10 goals and 17 points in 41 games this season.
Heineman last appeared during the Canadiens' 2-1 shootout loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday where he had 14:26 of ice time.
The Leksand, Sweden native was acquired by the Canadiens in 2022, along with forward Tyler Pitlick and two draft picks, from the Calgary Flames in exchange for centre
Tyler Toffoli.
Heineman was originally drafted 43rd overall by the Florida Panthers in the 2020 draft.
The Montreal Canadiens have been one of the hottest teams in the league the past 2 weeks, and this freak accident is a serious blow to the organization.
Sitting just 2 points out of a playoff spot, the Habs will need to figure out a way to shake this off and perform ahead of their matchup tonight against Utah HC.
Heinemen was slowly starting to produce good offensive numbers for the Habs, so this injury could not have come at a worse time.
In 41 games this season, Heinemen has recorded 17 points, posting a +2 rating on the ice.
