Rick Tocchet throws strange jab at the Edmonton Oilers in recent comments
The Vancouver Canucks are currently facing some turmoil, and head coach Rick Tocchet is clearly starting to lose his patience.
The Vancouver Canucks faced off against the Boston Bruins last night, getting absolutely spanked by a score of 5-1.
On top of the brutal defeat, the Vancouver Canucks have been plagued with organizational issues all season.
Canucks superstar JT Miller stepped away from the team due to personal reasons. While he's since returned, his absence definitely impacted their ability to win games.
Furthermore, the Canucks are currently facing a crisis regarding their home game attendance, with more empty seats becoming increasingly noticeable.
After the game, Rick Tocchet made himself available for his usual post game interviews, making a strange comment about the Edmonton Oilers.
According to Tocchet, the Edmonton Oilers can have several players be "passengers" and still win games.
»Some guys were just not engaged. We don't have the team to have three or four or five passengers. We just don't have it. Edmonton, they can have four or five guys sleeping. They have guys that can win that game for them.»

"Let's face facts. For four or five guys, they're struggling,» Tocchet told reporters post-game. «They're struggling to get emotionally invested in the game. It's the NHL. You have to be jacked up to play the game. You have to be emotionally in the game. Sometimes the guys are taking like, 30 minutes to get in the game, for whatever reason."

Although the Edmonton Oilers have been known to steal the odd victory due to their superstars, I completely disagree with Tochett on this one.
It's quite a strange comment from the Canucks coach. Tocchet seems to be criticizing his superstars for not having game breaking talent while recognizing the Oilers have it, but also putting down the entirety of the Oilers depth players and their role in their playoff success.
