The Edmonton Oilers are making roster decisions as the NHL trade deadline approaches and it appears Viktor Arvidsson could be on the move.
Viktor Arvidsson has emerged as a cap dump candidate to free up space for potential deadline acquisitions with the team solidifying its decision on
Jeff Skinner.
The Oilers signed both Skinner and Arvidsson last offseason with hopes of helping their offensive depth, but both players have struggled at times which is leading to frustration within the organization.
Skinner was recently made a healthy scratch, but the move seemed to help him find his game and is leading general manager Stan Bowman to confirm he will remain with the team.
"I don't envision that being the case. He's shown the real willingness to work through things with our group, and I commend him on that. He's had a really great attitude the entire time I suppose things can always change, but that's not the focus right now for Jeff."

If Jeff Skinner stays, then Arvidsson will automatically become the more likely trade candidate.
Arvidsson has been a productive NHL player throughout his career, but this season has been underwhelming since in 40 games, he has seven goals, 11 assists with a +7 rating.
While those numbers aren't eye-catching, he could still provide depth scoring for a contender.
Unlike Skinner, Arvidsson does not have trade protection which is making him easier to move, but his $4 million cap hit for one more season could require salary retention in a deal.
With just seven games remaining after the Four Nations Faceoff before the trade deadline, we expect Bowman to be actively working on deals.
Moving Arvidsson could be part of a bigger trade to bolster the team's offense for a deep playoff run.
