Drew Doughty just said that he'd be willing to fight Matthew Tkachuk if necessary
Saturday night's heated matchup between Team USA and Team Canada is still being felt since Drew Doughty is declaring he's willing to drop the gloves with Matthew Tkachuk if necessary.
During an NHL on TNT interview, Paul Bissonnette asked Doughty if he'd fight Tkachuk in the rematch.
With a smirk, Doughty responded that he'd do anything for his country which is including going toe-to-toe with his longtime rival.
Doughty and Tkachuk have a long history dating back to their Kings vs. Flames battles in the NHL.
Their bad blood has carried over into the 4 Nations Faceoff and is adding fuel to the already intense Canada-USA rivalry.
Doughty was a last-minute replacement for
Alex Pietrangelo, who withdrew from the tournament, but he has quickly accepted the challenge.
Both teams are dealing with injuries as the finals is approaching:
Matthew Tkachuk missed the Sweden game.
Auston Matthews sat out with a lower-body injury.
Shea Theodore is out for the tournament.
Cale Makar missed Saturday's game due to illness but returned against Finland.
Charlie Mccavoy is missing the next game.
Most players are expected to be ready for the February 20th final in Boston except Theodore and Mccavoy and the tensions will be at an all-time high for the matchup.
With social media buzzing, fans from both sides are anticipating a battle for international supremacy and maybe even a fight between Drew Doughty and Matthew Tkachuk.
