Kasperi Kapanen is breaking away from his dark past
Edmonton Oilers newcomer Kasperi Kapanen is emerging as one of the top offensive players on the team following an impressive 4-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche.
Kasperi Kapanen, a Finnish ice hockey hockey player has faced a ton on criticism both on, and off the ice.
The Edmonton Oilers made a significant roster move a few weeks ago by claiming Kasperi Kapanen on waivers, a former first round draft pick who will immediately entered the Oilers lineup.
Kapseri Kapanen came into Edmonton with quite a bit of baggage. Last season Kapseri Kapanen was arrested for aggrevated drunk driving, but he's making the most of his new opportunity in Edmonton.
A Finnish news source perfectly explained that Kapanen has lost his spark over his career, and could be in his last NHL stint if he doesn't impress in Edmonton.
Last night, Kapsperi Kapanen notched his third point in four games, and GM Stan Bowman is being praised for his conviction by claiming the disgruntled forward off waivers.
So far, Kapanen's done everything he can to break that reputation with his defensive play. Last night against the Avalanche, he put his body on the line to make an important shot block in the third period.
If he continues to make solid defensive plays like this and motor back up the ice to bury the occasional scoring chance, Kapanen will provide excellent value for the Oilers at $1M this season after picking him up for nothing on waivers.

The Edmonton Oilers finish their 3 game road trip on Tuesday. It will be interesting to see if Kasperi Kapanen can keep his impressive level of offensive production going against a formidable Golden Knights team.
