Zach Hyman forced to leave game after taking scary slap-shot to the face
A scary moment in Edmonton as forward Zach Hyman is hit in the face by a slap shot from Evan Bouchard and is forced to leave the game.
During a sequence in the 2nd period, Evan Bouchard teed up a slap shot from the blue line, hitting Zach Forward directly in the face.
Zach Hyman wasted no time going down the tunnel, leaking a ton of blood, clearly in a significant amount of pain.
The good news is that Zach Hyman was able to leave the ice under his own power.
A hit that hard to the face can sometimes lead to a player being knocked unconscious, but fortunately, that wasn't the case here.
Zach Hyman having a massive game
Zach Hyman leaving the game is a significant blow to the Edmonton Oilers.
Before taking a slap shot to the face, Zach Hyman was arguably having his biggest game of the season, notching two crucial goals to help the Oilers claw their way back into the game.
Although Hyman was leaking a significant amount of blood, hopefully he comes back for the third period -- a hat-trick is calling his name.
Stay tuned for further medical updates -- one thing is for sure, Zach Hyman is a tough customer and will do everything he can do come back.
